Ah, another weekend with Reggie...I've already taught him to say "We know it's wrong."  Unfortunately, I was caught by the flashbulbs, still in a sleep daze cuddling this fellow and it looks like an ill-advised bong-smoking parody.  Isn't he quite adorable though?

The events compacted into a weekend...I won't go into vivid details, rather catalogue it for myself and the voyeurs.  I arrived in the afternoon Friday amidst a light drizzle of bad luck involving accidentally overnighting a compilation to a friend who is out of town for two weeks and finding it impossible to cut and paste drum clips on [info]klocko_peacocko's laptop (computer, you perverts!  Now there's a visual...)  To cheer myself up, I bought the reissue of the first album I ever owned, Michael Jackson's Thriller.  It still moves me, is it so wrong to submit to a little soul now and then?

Klocko picked up the best of Christopher Walken on Saturday Night Live which we watched into the wee hours and we managed to collect some gifts for my feline friend Diva, one of the most wonderful people I know, who has never had a proper birthday celebration, so I decided why not have a "I'm glad our paths crossed" day for her?  I don't mention her nearly enough...even though she wakes me up every two hours, she's largely the reason I've never been late for work and one of my best friends.

Klocko snagged a copy of the new Gorillaz album the next day, I picked up the new Ren and Stimpy DVD collection and we embarked on our way to see the not-too-disappointing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Whilst waiting for the film to start, Klocko and I hit up the local mall where I shyly averted eye contact with the MAC counter girls while buying a Gracious Me shade stick, Silver Ring and Print eyeshadows, and the very necessary Lipglass lipgloss.  As I mentioned above, C&C Factory (oooh, you know what I want to say!) wasn't as bad as I imagined it could be and had some rather catchy tunes courtesy of Danny Elfman.  Klocko and I disrupted the theater with uproarious laughter as the little fat boy struggled in a vomit-inducing nauseau to stuff his maw full of candy grass.  We had also chosen a child at random (Mike Teavee) to pretend we wanted to violently fuck...what a surreal way to watch a film.  Any time the homely little simian went into a rage, Klocko and I whispered muffled expressions of lust, often using that old fall back "URRGHH.  I'm going to cum."  Being a sentimental young man, I got a bit choked up over Charlie's ill fortune and was disappointed that they humanized Willy Wonka.  But as I mentioned above, the music was rather neat, using sci-fi blips and bleeps for the factory theme and sitars and psychedelia for the Veruca Salt demise scene.

I bid Klocko and Reggie adieu this morning, missing them terribly as always, and came home to the pleasant surprise of a Princess Tinymeat Herstory LP and Gene Loves Jezebel "Shaving My Neck" 12" in my mailbox.  [info]kid_sportswear is a terrible influence, but I mean that as a high compliment.  If only we were all so lucky to have such a terrible influence!  By the way, I got my plane tickets and I'll be arriving at La Guardia on October 26th at around 5:00PM and will be leaving from La Guardia at noonish on November 1st.

Hope everyone is dealing with their Summer madness well...I think we're about halfway through, no?

He's precious and precocious! And named after a Jamaican big gun enthusiast. What more could anyone want?

Wait! Don't do that. It's only nice for about 4 months here. Otherwise it's a cold, rainy hell.

You're right, I'm looking before I'm leaping. I thought of you the other day, while visiting Klocko in Gainesville. It was hot as hell and I said "It must have been nearly two years to the day since that we were tromping around Payne's Prairie with Justin." *thoughtful pause* "We were crazy bastards then."

God, two years. The asshole who discovered time was surely the same man whose sperm spawned Hitler down the generations. I still wonder sometimes what it would have felt like being chased by a gator and running in zig-zags. There's something absolutely horrible about the idea.

I'm giving myself an ulcer over everything i need to complete prior to Drop Dead. If anything, I should be asking Mother Nature for an extension.

you've got to get your first album produced by then, right?

Thankfully no...it's just our first set of demos that I'm going to be giving out to my friends and interested strangers. I've been trying to get my bass lines straight but we keep getting hit with complications...problems with the file types we used to record live drums, my Juno 106 synth needs a new battery and a synth that old may be problematic where batteries are concerned. Klocko and i still need to get guitar worked out...it's supposed to be all in good fun, but to be honest, it's not all that fun right now.

Oh Conrad!

Only five days, eh? Well, we shall have to make sure you recieve nothing but the Most Awesome on your trip. Though you, with your vast plethora of Gemm gems, are likely to snicker at my sad little record collection.

By day five, you'll be popping open a bottle of your finest to toast my departure! Actually, to be perfectly honest...Klocko and I are keeping our ears out to hear news on the local job market/cost of living in New York City...it's seeming more feasible day by day. Who knows...we may end up urban neighbors?

marienkafermariekafer told me about you.

It's always a shocker when you come across a Floridian with good taste, so of course you're added! Yeah, Reggie's addy orable...he's [info]klocko_peacocko's lovebird and my illegitimate...illegitimate what? I don't know, but it's not legit.

I know what you mean by finding anyone here with even remotely interesting musical taste. The only other person I’m aware of in florida with similar tastes is hisskeletonkisshiskeletonkiss

By any chance you are attending Drop Dead Fest? I'm just looking for a few good chums to meet up with while I’m there

Look forward to becoming good friends with you

Yeah, I know her...she was going to play in our band but things never really panned out and I think at day's end, besides liking a handful of bands, we had nuffing in common, you know? She's a sweet girl and I hope things go swell for her.

Of course, Klocko (she's a Gainesvillain!) and I are flying up for Drop Dead and staying with the illustrious [info]kid_sportswear and [info]ms_chitin. [info]marienkafer and them are thick as thieves, so we're bound to become fast friends!

I shall be staying with the wonderful marienkafermarienkafer & her room mate nydecaynydecay

I look forward to meeting you & Klocko. It's my first time attending Drop Dead or going anywhere on my own for that matter. I'm rather excited and nervous at the same time

But could you possible think of a better first trip? I can't!

I've talked to Lakini_malich a few times and he seems like a fine gentleman. I’m looking forward to possibly meeting him also
